English Speaking Therapist in Berlin

Hello and welcome to my Website!

Finding an English speaking Therapist in Berlin can be extremely overwhelming, especially if you are already struggling with things.

I didn't want to complicate things further, so I have kept everything simple; offering an idea of what therapy can be and also sharing how I work.

If you would like to know more, don't hesitate to contact me. I offer a 30-minute consultation, free of charge.  This will allow us to discuss your individual needs, and for me to answer any questions you may have.

About Me

I have been offering Therapy since 2013, and work in strict accordance with the BACP ethical framework

As a humanistic Counsellor, I work with feeling and emotion.  Seeing you as a whole, rather than focusing on any particular issue or area.  You are greater than the sum of your parts!

Guiding my work is the belief that we all live unique lives.  The happiness and sadness we feel are solely ours, no one else will ever feel the same.

We can ( and do! ) however share our lives with others, they affect us and we affect them.   As your Counsellor I'm there with you, working to understand the world as you experience it.

While there alongside you, I will offer a non-judgmental and empathic space, supporting you unconditionally.   I will be genuine and honest, owning my thoughts and feelings when I share them.  I will never judge or analyze you.

Testimonials:

I had 3 years of extremely helpful sessions with Sean. He has a way of guiding you in a kind, but no-nonsense way. He is very respectful, perceptive, and a wonderful listener. Big recommend.

He's a patient, compassionate listener and he always asks the right questions in that no-nonsense "but how do you REALLY feel" way.

He’s understanding, patient, and empathetic and asks perceptive and penetrating questions.

Sean has been a great support to me as a colleague and supervisor. He is a great counsellor who always has his client's best interests at heart. I highly recommend him!

He is a great listener, very easy to talk to, and engages in sessions with empathy and respect.

My Approach
  • I work 'Integeratively' meaning I combine different techniques from different styles of Therapy.  Working in this way allows me to organically shape sessions to your specific needs.  After all, everyone is different!

  • I work in the ”hear and now”, think of this as working in real-time, its an excellent tool to help clients understand their own processes.  We can explore the past and also look at the future, however, the key is then to bring your thoughts and feelings into the present. This helps to raise awareness around patterns of behavior, or potential triggers (addiction, anger, anxiety, bad relationships, eating disorders, etc )

  • Working with descriptions and metaphors can be great tools to help us better understand what you may be feeling.  If words have escaped you, we can get more creative to help express what is felt.

  • Therapy isn't always about the negatives, meaning it's important to celebrate the positives! Smiles and happiness are an important part of Therapy.  By looking at both the positive and the negative, we get the chance to see what else is going on in between ( as nothing is black and white! )

  • Communication is key, so we must find a way of sharing that fits. This means taking the time to check in, talk about what is working, and look at anything we can improve upon; Therapy sessions are always guided by you and your needs.

  • Lastly, it is important to keep in mind that Therapy can be an emotional roller-coaster; sometimes you will feel better, and at other times you may feel bruised and exhausted. This is all part of the process.

Therapy can be a tough journey, but you have the strength to face it, even if at times it feels too much.
